Biography

Shafiq Ahmad Chughtai is a seasoned Consultant Upper GI Surgeon currently working at Cwm Taff University Health Board. With a strong foundation in general and HPB surgery, he has gained extensive experience in both domestic and international settings.

After graduating from the Military Medical School in Pakistan in 2003, Dr. Chughtai honed his skills in conflict zones and national disasters. Seeking to further his expertise in liver surgery, he relocated to the United Kingdom.

Training in leading centers like Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham and St James's University Hospital Leeds, Dr. Chughtai has worked alongside renowned HPB surgeons and liver transplant specialists. He holds a Master's degree in Clinical Transplantation from the University of Liverpool.

Dr. Chughtai has made significant contributions to the field, both clinically and academically. He has actively participated in remote working initiatives to support HPB and transplant surgery in developing countries. His research has been published in numerous indexed peer-reviewed journals, and he is a dedicated teacher and trainer of junior doctors.

A proponent of point-of-care ultrasound, Dr. Chughtai is currently pursuing postgraduate studies in this area. His commitment to excellence, combined with his diverse experience, makes him a valuable asset to the field of HPB surgery.
